This workshop, taught by Kelli Anderson and Keegan Mills Cooke, will take place at The Arm printshop in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The class will be held among 19th c. wood type and printing equipment, but we will be working on our own laptops and the RISO. We will cover the entire process of printing a short looping animation: taking it from a video to a prined sheet, to a printed moving animation.
You'll learn how to output frames, how to automate a contact sheet, how to choose color separations, and finally: how to stitch it all back together again. We will go over file setup (instruction will be led in Photoshop, but alternative tool ideas are welcome!), as well as the basic operation of the machine, changing between different color drums, and the accurate registration of multiple colors.
