This workshop, taught by Kelli Anderson, will be held over Zoom, but your frames will actually be printed, scanned, and mailed to you. Over Zoom, we will cover the entire process of taking a video, gif, or animation and turning it into a short looping animation. We will cover how to output frames, how to automate a contact sheet, how to choose color separations, and finally: how to stitch it all back together again. We will go over file setup (instruction will be led in Photoshop, but alternative tool ideas are welcome!), as well as the basic operation of the machine, changing between different color drums, and the accurate registration of multiple colors. (We can't all gather around the RISO to learn about its functionality, but we can cover all of the components on video and ask questions.)
These contact sheets will then be scanned, shared among participants, and we will stitch the frames back together. Everyone attending will receive: printed contact sheets (USPS mail) and scans of those contact sheets.
Note: Attendees will have basic Photoshop skills—we will use Photoshop heavily for file prep. Attendees will need to bring in a short animation or gif to be printed.
