How do letterforms from different eras get their shape?
ABRACADABRA: Letterform, Technology (an exhibition and a book) invites visitors into playful dialogue with the mysterious dimensions of typographic symbology, history, technology, and their own perception. The exhibition aims to break down barriers between artist and audience by presenting takeaway interactive elements, pamphlets, prompts to create letterforms, and collaborative thought experiments. I believe that by making tech topics touchable, we can open technical fields like type design up to wider engagement and more diverse voices. The Center for Book Arts has reported that it is the most well-attended show they’ve run.
